Our Investment Management Process
At Wellsage Wealth, we believe investing should be thoughtful, transparent, and aligned with what matters most to you. Our investment approach is structured, disciplined, and yet flexible —allowing for careful tailoring to our clients’ needs, today and tomorrow.
Key Process Steps
Every client is different. That’s why our investment process begins with understanding you—your goals, priorities, and comfort with risk. From there, we build diversified portfolios using low-cost, highly liquid investment vehicles, primarily exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Our goal is to create portfolios that are appropriate, resilient, and aligned with your long-term objectives. Note: All investments involve risk, including the possible loss of principal, and no investment strategy can guarantee results.
Understanding You First
We begin with an in-depth conversation to understand your financial goals, time horizon, and tolerance for market risk. This includes a structured interview and survey, followed by a discussion of how your preferences may translate into an investment strategy. The result is a clearly defined Investment Policy Statement (IPS), which is reviewed over time as circumstances change. Every IPS is also aligned with you, the client, prior to its initial implementation.
Building the Core of Your Portfolio
The foundation of our portfolio approach is to allocate our clients to one or more of our Core Portfolios, matched to their risk and growth objectives as described in the IPS. We maintain several Core Portfolios aligned to different risk profiles, including Capital Preservation, Conservative Growth, Balanced, Growth, and Aggressive Growth. Each core portfolio typically holds a number of broadly diversified ETFs selected based on cost, liquidity, and efficiency.
Customizing with Satellite Strategies
For some clients, we enhance the core portfolio with additional Satellite ETF strategies. These may include inflation and real asset exposure, risk management strategies, tactical allocations, or fixed income positioning. Satellite strategies are used selectively and are not required for every client.
Selective Use of Individual Securities
In certain cases, portfolios may include individual stocks, bonds, or other securities. When used, individual positions are researched, conservatively sized, and monitored to ensure they remain aligned with the overall portfolio and investment plan.
Ongoing Monitoring and Review
Investing is not a one-time decision. We monitor portfolios and revisit asset allocation, investment positioning, and changes in your goals or circumstances. We seek to avoid unnecessary trading while making adjustments when it is in your best interest.
Illustrative Portfolio Allocation
The following chart outlines a hypothetical allocation process, whereby a client’s Investment Policy Statement (“IPS”) is used to set risk tolerance and in-turn an allocation across core and satellite portfolios. Please note this example is to illustrate our approach and is not intended to be investment advice. Please see our Form ADV here for important disclosures.
Research and Oversight
Our investment decisions are supported by third-party research, analytical tools from custodial partners, direct company and market research, and technology-assisted tools. Any use of technology or AI is always reviewed by a human advisor—investment decisions are never made by automated systems alone. We do not use outside managers, robo-advisors and generally prefer to implement positions through utilizing ETFs. Our investment selection approach includes both quantitative and qualitative criteria when selecting individual securities, and macro, quantitative and modern portfolio theory approaches when constructing ETF-based portfolios.
A Thoughtful, Client-Centered Approach
Our focus is not on predicting markets or promising outcomes. Instead, we aim to build well-structured portfolios aligned with your goals, supported by discipline, diversification, and ongoing advice. We invite you to start a conversation to learn how this approach applies to your unique situation.
